There are nicer mag mount antenna bases but these represent reasonably good value for the price. The coax is tiny, which is going to be lossy, particularly at VHF and UHF where these will be used. I tested both with 5 watts and was able to get a clear audio signal into the local repeater when I couldn't access the repeater using the same antenna on the handy talkie in the truck.I wouldn't recommend these for large antennas with a lot of wind loading, extremely high speeds, or permanent installations. I bought these to keep in the trucks so I could use small Signal Stuff antennas outside the vehicle for better performance with Baofeng handy talkies that I keep in the trucks, mostly for emergency communications. With a small antenna for occasional use with low RF power, these mag mount bases seem like a good choice.
