The materials used are solid but the product is otherwise an utter failure for two reasons:1. the space allowed for the cheese is tiny, so you have to chop up the cheese in small bits which is a waste of time.2. and this is the worst of the two: the spring action that pushes the cheese down isn't strong enough, so you have to twist for about five or six minutes to get enough cheese for a plate of pasta. I had to switch hands midway to evenly distribute the strain between both (and I'm in pretty decent shape). So if you're looking for wrist exercise at the table while your pasta slowly cools to room temperature then this is a great buy. Otherwise it's a total waste of money and straight landfill fodder.
