For a minimal grind to just remove the stain and avoided potential gauging from a cup wheel 1. Mounting Grinding Wheels When fitting a grinding wheel, ensure that it is neither too loose nor too tight on the flange. Properly gripping the wheel is crucial to prevent slippage during operation, but avoid tightening it with excessive force. Never resort to using a hammer for this task, as it can lead to dangerous consequences. 2. Maintenance of Flanges and Screw Threads To maintain the safety and effectiveness of your equipment, regularly inspect and clean the flanges and screw threads. Make sure they are free from burrs and rust, as these imperfections can compromise the wheel's stability and overall performance. By keeping them clean and well-maintained, you can ensure a smoother and safer grinding process. 7" Transitional Ceramic Grinding Wheels 5/8"-11 Arbor Diamond Cup Wheel for Concrete Polishing Usage: Starting with a 30 grit 7" for the first cut and followed with the 50 and 100 grit before going to 200. This 7” ceramic cup wheel is a pleasure to use! The large size really helps keep the surface flat, but of course it can also be used on broadly curved surfaces as well. I am a sculptor, so usually I’m wanting the contours; however, when I do want a flat plane (eg. on the bottom/base) this disk is very nice to have. The 200 grit is nice for me. Just aggressive enough to move stone when needed, but fine enough that I’m not having to deal with a lot of tool marks. This is my 2nd ceramic tool, and I’m really liking them. The ceramic apparently provides a very stable platform for the abrasive, so it performs amazingly well. It is amazing that it can be both aggressive and at the same time present a smooth surface, which reduces tool marks. Very nice!Another nice thing about the smooth, stability of the tool is that it doesn’t ‘chatter’ or bounce at all on the stone. This is important for me, as I sculpt thin, delicate shapes. Very nice. The light weight of the tool is also a great asset for me; very little metal is used. Because I carve delicate shapes, I am always looking for tools with a ‘light touch’. Even this giant 7” cup wheel gives a light touch.
