Warranty and Quality Assurance Coverage and Assurance for DF64 Gen 2 Ownership
This is a preliminary review. I have only had the grinder a few days.I had previously owned the DF83 v2, but I returned it due to problems with grounds clogging in the exit chute and difficulty of cleaning. So far, the DF64V is a big improvement on several counts- The 83 is enormous and quite heavy. The size and weight of the 64V is more appropriate for a kitchen setting.- The 83 clearly needed seasoning as the burrs initially left a metallic aftertaste to the coffee. I did not have this experience with the 64V.- I like the ability to adjust the speed of the 64V. Only more experience will allow me to draw conclusions about how different speeds affect the cup quality.- The catch cup in the 83 would rattle while grinding. The 64V's catch cup is not physically attached to the grinder, so this is not a problem.- The 64V is whisper quiet at idle. It is actually sometimes difficult to tell that it is turned on. While grinding it is a little quieter than the 83 if only because of the lack of rattle from the catch cup.- The 64V is cheaper than the 83.- MOST importantly, the 64V is infinitely easier to successfully clean and resolve any potential clogs than the 83. I found the 83's exit chute nearly impossible to successfully clean. In contrast, the 64V's exit chute is removable from the body of the grinder without tools, making cleaning of the declumper area and the chute itself a snap.
