Santa Cruz Shredder has a reputation to defend. Is it as good as the competition? My first attempt to compare the shredder for its effectiveness was anise seeds.It turned out that the Santa Cruz Shredder and my high-end Stainless Steel Ripper had no effect.Now I want to try it on another find in my apothecary cabinet. Its label says Pink Runtz.Who knows what that is! I found a similar quantity for both shredders.I twisted and rotated the shredders for 50 twists each with the grinding part on the bottom so the grind stayed in the grinder compartment to receive more treatment.Afterwards, I compared the results (See picture). Conclusion: None of it went past the sieve. To me, the result isthe same. Since the material of the shredders is plastic vs stainless steel, you could compare it to a plastic knife vs a stainless steel knife. The plastic knife becomes dull after a few uses. In contrast, stainless steel lasts much longer.With a limited budget, this shredder does a great job.
