We've found the Atom series from Eureka to be the quietest range around. You won't even know it's on. Silent Technology The exclusive anti-vibration solution reduces the grinding noise by approximately 20 dB compared to the conventional grinders and paves the way for a new way of grinding coffee: accurate and quiet. As one of the quietest grinders we've ever used, it's sure to make espresso preparation an even better experience at home. High-Speed Grind Dispersion Eureka's espresso-built 65mm burrs, developed by their R&D department, power through double shots in record time (18 grams in ~5.5 seconds) and dose in an impressive stream (thanks to Eureka's refined ACE system) that's free of clumps and excess static. The special engine-burrs set allows the Atom 65 to reach extremely high dispensing speed while preserving quality coffee in cup. Stepless Micrometric Regulation System Micrometric system with infinite adjustment points, the only one based on the lower burr repositioning, promises incomparable grinding performances and allows to carry out maintenance operations without losing the grinding setting. Their patented micro-metric grind adjustment dial makes adjustments, big or small, quick and easy. ACE System The ACE System works to keep your grinds clump free and static free so that your dose is smooth and consistent. Conceived to prevent clump development and eliminate the electrostatic charge of ground coffee, the ACE System is the common denominator in every Eureka on-demand grinder. Due to its regulating action over coffee outflow, ACE System ensures incomparable cleanliness and consistency. High Speed Maintenance The mechanical composition of the Atom 65's burrholder set can be dismantled removing only 9 screws. With the bottom burr fixed into place, users can dismantle and clean their burrs without interfering with their settings. All-Purpose Adjustable Hands-Free Fork Thanks to the specific geometry and the adjustable support, the Eureka fork is ideal for any kind of portafilter and allows you to accomplish other operations during the grinding phase. Blow Up System Zero Retention - Conceived for specialty coffee, the mechanism generates an air flow able to clean the grinding chamber and grind all the coffee beans, without waste, for a perfect coffee in the cup. Excellent performance. Really very happy, with one small exception that I couldn't find any info about online. My son was attempting to get into making his own espresso, and held the portafilter and basket up really high on the grinder causing grounds to build up and spew out everywhere/up the chute, etc. That's when our dreadful static issues began. Before then, a crackling/snapping sound could be heard, and grounds would dispense pretty much static free straight down into the basket. After the incident, they were flying everywhere. Sticking all over the handle, all over the basket rim... Floating up onto the machine...I thought at first it was a clog in the chute, so I dismantled, but it all seemed pretty clean with very little grounds hanging out in there.I reassembled, and it continued doing it, and I started fearing the worst, so I took it apart again and just examined everything, and noticed the only single electrical component that was anywhere near the grounds, was the led, that hangs from the mainboard on a wire, and sits pushed into the rubber gasket at the bottom. It has to insert a fair way into it, and because the wire is so flexible, it can't get in there unassisted. It bends upwards instead of sliding in.So I half assembled and helped it by pushing it from the top, and holding the display in place, while it founds it's way now fully into the gasket housing. As soon as this was back in place, not only was the front better lit again, but the static issue vanished. The crackling sound could be heard from the grinder again, and all seems well.I guess I can conclude that it uses the LED ground wiring to somehow ground the emerging grounds from the chute?I'm relieved it's working again, but that seems like a very weak component to be so important. One that has to be removed for cleaning, but also one so delicate that is going to be reassembled out of alignment unless you know about it.Hoping this might help someone else.Overall, it's still a 5 out of 5. It's a fabulous grinder. If that component was a little beefier in it's connection from the board, it wouldn't be possible for it to be bent up out of the way by either excess grounds or reassembly.
