I paid full price for this item - no discount for review. I like this burr grinder and it is much more convenient than using a blade grinder. I cold brew my coffee and this makes a large volume of ground coffee quickly. Does the coffee taste better? Maybe a bit, but it isn't going to turn garbage coffee into gold. Pick your beans carefully.A few issues...- First, the coarsest grind setting isn't all that coarse. This seems better suited for doing a medium to fine grind.- Second, depending on your beans, there is a problem with static electricity and the grindings will cling to the unit when you remove the receptacle. Oily beans exhibit less of this behavior.- Third, it is a bit messy. You really need to clean it out pretty rigorously after each use. My recommendation...take it outside, disassemble, and use compressed air to blow it out.Even with the above issues, this is much better than using a smaller blade grinder. This works fine for me. I've had it about 9 months and it makes you wonder why people pay hundreds more for a conical burr grinder. But, here are two things that you might want to know:-- The top burr just sits on the bottom burr, which is fine, but when you first get it, it might not be set in correctly, or at all, depending how it's been thrown around in shipping. If it's not set right, you'll break the plastic cone on the top. Check it.-- If you use a really fresh-roasted, dark roast bean, it won't grind well unless you move the beans around. It doesn't bother me. I just stir the beans on the top while it's grinding. This didn't happen until I switched coffee sellers and the new guy roasts dark roast every day, so the beans are the freshest and best I've ever had. This grinder so far does a good job. Long term performance is just as important because I don't want to have to replace items after a couple of years. So on that, we'll see. This is a replacement for a less expensive grinder that lasted me many years but that recently I had to keep opening up and cleaning the motor for it to run. That grinder cost less than half this one, and while it didn't perform quit as well (close though) it looked much much nicer. This grinder has a really cheap look to it and I just don't like seeing it sit on my counter. It would be better if it was actually metal or even black plastic. But the "metal look" plastic is just so tacky. It is quieter than my last grinder and that's a bit of a plus. BUT just to make one pot of coffee with a medium grind, I have to do two batches of grinding. The timer only grinds enough for 10 cups. For me this is the biggest flaw. The last thing I want to do in the morning is create extra work for myself.Very good product.I've had this for about 9 months and use it every dayI only use it on the course setting for coffee press use.The only real issue I've seen is the small port where the grinds are funneled into the cup gets clogged. To prevent this I tilt the machine toward me and tap it firmly on top after each use. This knocks all of the grinds into the cup.Also. Depending on the humidity and the coffee used I have had static issues where pulling out the cup coffee grinds seem to jump all over the place. Not sure if an anti-static treatment of some type would help.I would, and have, recommend this.Good grinding consistency for the price. After a little bit of experimenting and using a Kruve sifter, I know what grind setting to use depending on the how the coffee will be used. Don't quite understand the countdown timer though, when a simple on/off button would suffice. Assuming the unit lasts, I think it was money well spent.Great ginder, nice even grind. Seems like it will last a long time (I've owned it for a few months). My big gripe is how hard it is to clean. The grinds get down in and around the grinding mechanism and either it came with a little brush and I lost it, or it didn't come with one. This is my second of this kind of burr grinder from Capresso. I needed one for my RV so I bought this one, that is slightly cheaper than my other one cost. I love it though and it works so well. I would buy it again if I had to, but we haven't had to as the product is a good one.Let’s talk coffee grinders. I certainly did my research with this one- and I thought I had chosen a winner. I love my Capresso milk steamer, so I was eager for my grinder to arrive. It busted the day I got it. I read the instructions and made what I thought was no error. Later I found a tiny piece of plastic in the box and a small note that said something about how operator error can cause a small piece of plastic to break off and the machine to malfunction. I spent $109 on a coffee maker with a known, cheap plastic flaw? No thanks. I returned this item, I’m hoping they accept it because it’s still in transit.Additionally, my coffee that came with the maker was three months past the expiration date. Overall I am not impressed with this experience. However, I ordered an older model of the Capresso grinder through Best Buy for only $50 and it works like a dream! It is way less bulky, has stainless steel elements, and can grind up to 12 cups of coffee worth of beans at once. This amazing little machine is The Capresso Coffee Burr Grinder Model #591.
