First the bad news: The board arrived with no standoff or screw and the antenna jack was separate and needed to be soldered on. But hams are supposed to know their way around a soldering iron, so no biggie. Also there was no instruction sheet of any kind, just an 'After-sales Card' that listed a couple of email addresses. As a result I had to resort to online guides and guessing to get pi-star to interface with the MMDVM card and find the right raspberry pi that would work. Now the good news: It works beautifully with 0% loss and 0.0% BER without any offset adjustment on D-Star. I didn't test the other modes. The voice transmissions are crystal clear. That earns it 5 stars for the price I paid (about $53). Lessons learned, Pi 2B fails, Pi 3B just works. Ethernet connects well. Radio/Modem Type: 'MMDVM_HS_HAT(DB9MAT & DF2ET) for Pi (GPIO)'. That one works for Pi-star setup from a long list of choices of board modem types. It took me about 6 hrs to do the research and get it to work. But it was definitely worth it.
