This was not what I was expecting. Thought it was like my old Kuchenprofi pepper grinder but I was wrong. I gave this a 3 star rating because, I haven't & won't be using it. I will return this in brand new condition without using it. I can't say anything about how it works. It has a ceramic grinding system, not stainless steel like my old one that I had for over 20 years. The SS grinding mechanism still works as it did the first day of my purchase. The acrylic housing that holds the whole pepper seed is what broke and fell apart. Other than that it worked perfect each & every use. I loved it, that I was willing to pay much more than I wanted too. If this works as well as my old one, you will have yourself a outstanding pepper grinder. I like this brand much better than Peugeot shakers.
